What is Forest School?
Forest School is an outdoor learning approach that takes place in a natural woodland setting. Children and adults take part in practical, hands-on activities — from building dens and cooking on a campfire to using tools and exploring nature. It’s designed to build confidence, resilience, teamwork and a lifelong love of the outdoors.
Where is Poole Forest School based?
We’re based at Beacon Hill Farm, Old Wareham Road, Corfe Mullen, Dorset BH21 3RZ — a beautiful private woodland easily accessible from Poole, Bournemouth, Wimborne and the surrounding area.
Is Poole Forest School Ofsted registered?
Yes! We are fully Ofsted registered, which means schools, nurseries and parents can book with complete confidence.
Are your staff qualified and DBS checked?
Absolutely. All our Forest School leaders hold Forest School qualifications and first aid certificates, and every member of our team is fully DBS checked. Many have teaching or teaching assistant backgrounds too.
Can you run Forest School sessions at our school?
Yes — we can come to you! We run after school clubs and full daytime sessions for whole classes or targeted groups. Just get in touch and we’ll tailor a programme to your school’s needs.
Can Forest School sessions link to our classroom topics?
Definitely. We love making Forest School relevant to what children are learning in class. Recent examples include Pirates in the Woods, The Gruffalo, The BFG and The Great Fire of London — all delivered outdoors with a Forest School twist.
Do you work with SEND children?
Yes, and this is something we’re really passionate about. We run sessions specifically designed for children with special educational needs, including ELSA sessions and activities for EAL groups. The Forest School environment is often transformative for children who find traditional classroom settings challenging.

Our birthday packages include cooking lunch on the campfire, building a shelter with friends, and making a woodland keepsake such as a pendant or key ring. It’s a unique, memorable alternative to a traditional party venue.

Corporate Days
Do you run corporate team building events?
Yes! Our corporate days are designed around your team’s goals and can include activities such as fire lighting, shelter building, spoon carving and foraging. You can even hold your team meeting around the campfire.
